Overview
Combat is one of the most important features in any game that gives a man a sword, but some rules must be set to ensure that all players can enjoy it. This rule applies to combat on the personal level, or 1 vs. 1. Please note that larger scale combat is still affected, as it can be seen as a collection of multiple 1 vs. 1 duel.
Breakdown of the rule
1. There are two types of combatants, those who are actively open to attack, and those who are not.
2. A player is denoted as actively open to attack when they wear the “[PVP]” tag at the beginning of their nickname. Wearing this tag makes that player a “PVP Player”
3. Any PVP player may attack any other PVP player without warning, though as a courtesy players should still consider saying something before attacking
4. Non PVP players are not permitted to attack any other player unless a duel has been agreed upon
5. A PVP player may not attack a non-PVP player and vice-versa.
6. A player who dons the “[PVP]” tag may not have it removed for one week.
7. Once engaged in combat, a player may not use any form of teleportation. This includes any command that modifies your position.
8. Players may admit defeat by placing a single block of white wool. This will be considered the “White Flag”. When the white flag is placed, both players must cease combat imidiately. If the fight was a pre-arranged duel, no payment need be made by the surrendering party to the winner unless previously agreed on. If the fight was an ambush between PVP players, payment may be demanded by the winner.
9. If the winner was the ambusher, payment may be up to 15% of the opponents goods, rounded down.
10. If the winner was the defender, payment may be up to 25% of the value of the defender’s inventory, rounded down.
Punishment
Violating the rules of Engagement will result in anywhere from a 5 minute ban to a 1-day ban. Looting of an opponent’s body beyond what is allowed by these rules will be seen as a violation of the theft rule and punished as such.
How each group is affected
Both groups are expected to abide by these rules. The Casual group May participate in arranged duels, but may not be considered PVP or engage in large scale combat.
